17 jun24: Syracuse to Utica.

I spoke to Julia at the hotel front desk and she asked if I would ride for her grandfather James and for her mom Beverly who is currently fighting ovarian cancer. Beverly, today’s ride is for you.

Today’s ride was about 60 miles with a slight breeze and temperatures a tad bit over 92°. So it was a little warm but as long as you kept hydrating it was manageable. I took a couple pictures but not much today.

I finally caught up with these two guys and then I paused for a break alongside a Wheatfield with the New York mountains in the background.

As I came into this one town I came to Greystone Castle. I have to admit it was kind of interesting to see a castle in the middle of a small town in New York.

On The menu go to history. It’s rather interesting.

As we were pedaling alongside the Erie Canal towpath I noticed a bridge with the river coming from the right under the road I was on, but exiting to the left. Immediately to my right was the Erie canal and a towpath so I was kind of interested about this little river/stream. Apparently the river crosses under the Erie canal and under the road and then goes on.I found it interesting that when they built the canal they could have a body of water and go over a body of water.

Well, that’s all I have for today.

Final day

Well this is the final day, 20 miles, most on a bike path, a meetup at Dunkin’ Donuts then a final 4 miles promenade to the Atlantic ocean....
