18 jun; off to Troy, NY

Today’s cancer ride dedication is for Christine Hall Havens. This ride is for you Christine.

Today’s ride may be a little rough. 100 miles but  a drop in altitude by 400 feet with a forecast of 94°. Leaving the hotel this morning it seemed like in no time at all we were in Herkimer New York; cute little town.

On the outskirts of Herkimer it opens up to the mountains and valleys along side the Mohawk River. Quite a beautiful area and wonderful to bicycle in. Traffic was minimal, shoulders were wide and as of 10 o’clock this morning it was still in the low 80s.

At SAG stop one we refreshed alongside the bike path, unfortunately not one that we will use for another 55 miles but it’s still a great looking area.

Upon leaving we crossed over the bridge and the river and in the distance you can see the dam. All part of

Historic Fort Plain.

Another 30 miles later brings us

to SAG stop number two at the top of a mountain looking down on the Mohawk River.  Pretty impressive!

And finally a highway plaque with information on the Mohawk area of New York.

All in all it was a pretty nice day. It didn’t hit the temps that they thought it would.  roughly it hit 91° at 2 o’clock as we were rolling into Troy. Cool temps this morning, and heat and humidity didn’t come in until roughly noonish so the day turned out to be pretty nice. Hoping for the same tomorrow. We will see!

Final day

Well this is the final day, 20 miles, most on a bike path, a meetup at Dunkin’ Donuts then a final 4 miles promenade to the Atlantic ocean....
