16May24; through the rain to Albuquerque, NM.

Today’s ride is dedicated to Monica Jack who lost their battle with cancer. Thank you Michelle for sharing with me and I’m sorry for your loss.

Out of the hotel and on the road by 730. The weather forecast keeps changing but it looks like we should get a little rain this morning and it should clear off and give wonderful skies in Albuquerque. It does look threatening though doesn’t it?

The rain gear came out and everyone was prepared for the worst. This shot was a semi dry road and at the moment the rain had stopped but it’s not looking too promising in the distance.

It seems the timing was quite well, the rain has stopped when it was discovered a tire was going flat. A quick fix and back on the road.

I don’t enjoy riding in the rain; it’s cold, it’s wet, it’s slippery, and it’s dangerous. Basically it’s yuck. However, that being said there is a certain amount of beauty with the clouds covering the mountain tops.

Another flat but this time we weren’t so lucky, although it wasn’t pouring, it was raining which encouraged a quick flat change and back on the road. A few miles later we hit the metropolis of San Fidel.

Eventually we encountered a long downhill run into Albuquerque New Mexico.

As I checked in to the room I took a quick glance outside it appears that I made it just in time. The mountains are in shrouded in clouds and it’s looking ominous out there.

Unfortunately there aren’t many pictures today. Between dodging the raindrops it was just too difficult to get the phone out and take pictures but I think you got the gist of the beauty in New Mexico. Tomorrow should be a better day as we head to Santa Fe. Hey, that rhymes. Lol

Final day

Well this is the final day, 20 miles, most on a bike path, a meetup at Dunkin’ Donuts then a final 4 miles promenade to the Atlantic ocean....
