Todays ride dedication is for Robert Jackson who lost his battle with cancer April 17.
It’s going to be a fantastic day for cycling today. Lots of pictures and amazing topography. out from the hotel and we’re heading into the morning sun and waiting for the green light.
Soon enough we got out of town and onto highway 333 N. It definitely was pretty.
Then the climbing began. Just a gentle upswing at first for 8 miles or so. At this point we were about 16 miles north of the city on rt. 333
As a reference point I arrived inTijeras around 9:00 with an elevation of 6300 ft.
Eventually we turned on to rt.14 and that’s when it started to get difficult, a 10 mile climb. Mile 20 from the hotel and I was presented with this view.
Another 4-5 miles of climbing and I hit the rest stop. I actually felt really good after the 10+mile climb.I really liked this pic of the road and distant mtn.
A quick break then back in the saddle for more climbing; the SAG stop was at mile 35 AND IT WAS ALL UPHILL!At mile 40 I Almost finished the climb, then…..
My favorite sign. A nice long run.
A quick stop in Madrid, then the final 20 miles to the hotel.
And then the arrival at the hotel. Cookies, candy and fruit infused water.
Tomorrow is a rest day so there probably will not be a post. Here’s pics of the hotel though. And that’s the days activities in a nutshell!
