Todays ride is dedicated to Dolores Howard who unfortunately lost her battle with cancer.
Out of curiosity I took this video yesterday on Pawnee rock and the wind was blowing the waves of wheat like waves of water. The video is great on my iPhone but I transferred it to the iPad it washes out but I’m not sure if it’s the video player on the iPad that’s the issue or the video just got funky so I’m going to post it here and if it looks good that’s fine if it looks washed out well so be it.
Started out this morning it’s roughly 64 miles to go from great Bend McPherson Kansas the day is a little warmer the wind is minimal the skies are overcast and cloudy and gorgeous absolutely stunning. So here’s today’s ride heading out.
We were in route to Lyons Kansas came across five or six riders that were stopped to fix a flat time I got there they were done so I joined up with them and basically pulled them for roughly 22 miles and maintained an average speed of 20.1 miles an hour. I was pretty impressed with myself lol. Anyway, we made it in to Lyons and got some food and drink and here’s some pictures of lyons along with the sign directing me to McPherson.
The town mascot…….
Ehhhhhh, excuse me sir, can you direct me to McPherson?
Another beautiful picture of Kansas paradise. At times I miss the openness of wheat fields.
Apparently my iPhone gets bored in my pocket, I had over 40 pictures of this and it must like music too, and it likes it very loud. I’m tooling down the road and hearing really loud rap music. I’m thinking sheesh this car coming up has the music loud…… then the car passes me and it’s still loud. I stop take my iPhone out of my pocket and look at it….. REALLY??? You couldn’t play Kansas, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac? No wonder my battery goes down to 30% by the time the days ride is over.
As I came through McPherson I stopped for lunch at woodys bar-b-que; I had a western stacker: Texas toast bread with brisket piled high inside, it was really good. That’s only half the story though. I was talking to the woman behind me in line about our trip and the people on tour. She said she saw us strung out on the roads and we talked about the distance traveled and miles to go. She slipped me a $20.00 and insisted on buying me lunch. Ohhhhh man, it’s been a long time since I’ve been honored in such a way. I forget how to handle it. I also forget how great the Midwest folks can be in kindness and hospitality. Such kindness!!!
wow so nice of that lady
