Today’s ride was for three people: Sandra puentes, Mandy and hubert who have all dealt with cancer in one form or another.
It was chilly and very windy at the start, and to match the Horses we had the rearing cyclist.
The view didn’t change much and the constant headwind basically kept my head down and trying to compensate for the wind. Eventually we came to big Tex, a photo op but he’s starting to deteriorate. Poor guy! Also the first of many granaries. The next town we hit was Stratford, you gotta love how proud they are of their students! Oh, yup, Stratford also has a granary.
As we continue to press forward, fighting the wind, eventually we reached Texhoma, population 346.
If the town is called Texhoma, then Oklahoma can’t be far behind….or ahead for that matter. We would have got there sooner but the headwinds just wouldn’t let up.
Shortly after the state line crossing was an unscheduled stop. I suspect one person stopped and others saw it and stopped also. Food and rest from fighting the wind.
The scenery finally changed… Windmills, lots and lots of windmills but not many turning on a day like this. Kind of strange but maybe they’re broke?
Eventually I entered the town of Goodwell and it’s granaries. All these towns have granaries next to the RR tracks. They must fill the silos, then dump it into the trains to take to larger cities and market.
I thought this was cool, a state school rodeo team arena.
