Today’s cancer ride dedication is in memoriam for Carmen Ash who lost the battle. 😞
Out of the hotel and heading to Sedona then on to Flagstaff. I’m not sure but I think I gotta go over THAT mountain!
It was a gentle 15 miles uphill just to the sign.
But once I hit the city limits…..well, check it out. The crazy thing is I’ve seen this three times and each time I think,”it’s a really large mural!” It’s not. Just stunning. Enjoy! There were some fires so the sky was a bit Smokey but even still isn’t that fabulous? Then I arrived into the city and these views just stopped me in my tracks. Then out of the limits and the real climbing starts. I only have this pic the roads were too narrow to be able to stop and shoot pics but it was fabulous. Look at the clouds; they looked like storm clouds forming so I had to push pretty good to beat the rain ( I made it).
Once I reached the peak I stopped for some incredible views then hit the road hauling freight to beat the storm; the wind picked up and temps dropped. Brrrrr. In the second pic you can see the road we came up waaaay waaay down there. Now it’s 13 miles into flagstaff. If I had more time I could have stopped in these woods and taken a nap. It was very peaceful and serene. And finally Flagstaff became a reality, and just moments before the rain.
Into the hotel to relax followed by dinner in a Mexican restaurant.
And that’s the day. Oh this just came to me, so as a post script….
Tomorrow is a rest day so there may not be a post. Then again……grin
